To college.
Through college.
Into a career.

You’re graduating from a Berkeley public high school and headed to college. Maybe you’re part of the first generation in your family to go. Maybe the money doesn’t add up yet. BCS was built for exactly this. A scholarship every term, an advisor who stays with you, career readiness from the start, and a network of people you can call on. From high school graduation to college degree to early career, in one program.

You do the work. We walk alongside you.

A BCS College Success Advisor leads a session on college units at Summer Orientation

Two paths. One goal.

Both end with a bachelor’s degree. Both come with the same scholarship, the same advisor, and the same network. The difference is where you start.

Bachelor’s Degree Program

You’re headed straight to a four-year college or university this fall.

Community College Program

You’re starting at Berkeley City College or another local community college with a plan to transfer. Or you’re already there. The same support, plus a transfer plan you build with your advisor. The scholarship follows you to the four-year campus.

Not sure which? The application lets you be considered for both.

More than a scholarship.

Each part of the program does something the others can’t.

College success advising

College Success Advising with staff who know you and support you from the summer after graduation to your first job. Someone to work with you through the problems and to develop the plan.

Financial scholarships

Money every term for what aid doesn’t cover. Plus three funds for the moments in between: Emergency, Opportunity, and Finish Line funds.

Career readiness

It starts in your first year, not when you’re trying to send resumes. Learn on your own schedule, practice with coaches and real professionals through the BCS Community Network.

A community network

The BCS Community Network is a professional and personal directory made up of alumni, community mentors, and local employers. You can reach out to them for advice: moving into the dorms or your first apartment, a job offer, grad school, a field you’re curious about, an introduction, or an informational interview.

Does it work?

80% of BCS scholars earn a bachelor’s degree within 4.5 years. Nationally, 16% of students from the same demographics finish within six years.
